Reassessing the Franco-Prussian War – 150 Years On

Online Conference 6-7 May 2021. May 10 2021 marks the 150th anniversary of the Treaty of Frankfurt, which officially ended the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71. Though largely forgotten in Britain today, this conflict ushered in transformative changes to the European geopolitical system, and had a profound impact on the development of the modern state.

THE EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED. “Turkish-Spanish Military History Symposium” will be held on 23 - 24 September 2021 at Turkish National Defence University-Istanbul by Turkish National Defence University-Fatih Institute of Military History Studies in cooperation with Turkish Historical Society. The PCMH celebrated the XXXII anniversary of its creation

In a festive event chaired by the Minister of National Defence, Prof. Doctor João Gomes Cravinho, and the President of the Portuguese Commission of Military History, Major-General João Vieira Borges, the Portuguese Commission of Military History (PCMH) celebrated on April 6 the XXXII anniversary of its creation.

New ICMH scientific initiatives

The ICMH announces two new initiatives proposed by the President to the Full Board which approved them: the ICMH Fellowship for Research Projects on Military History and the Affiliate Individual Scholars. Their purpose is to enhance ICMH’s scientific standing and audience. The President earnestly solicits collaboration in circulating this information in order to guarantee the initiatives’ success.
