The Italian Air Force Historical Office is a department of  the Italian Air Force Staff.  Each Armed Forces in Italy has its own historical archives subordinated  to the Ministry of  Defence.

9. General description of contents

The Italian Air Force Historical Office is responsible for the cataloging, preservation of documents related to the Aeronautical History Furthermore the Office conducts activities of research and advice.  The archive includes documents from all units of the Italian Air Force.

 

 

10. Categories, Linear measurement, Period covered

By the end of 2017, the Historical Office kept holdings of approximately the following amount:

• 1,5 Km of written records

• 15.000 about photographs

• 30.000 books in the library.

These holdings cover the period from the beginning of the twentieth century up to now.

 

11. Access conditions (opening hours)

Monday : closed;

Tuesday to Thursday: fm 09:00 to 14:00;

Friday: fm 09:00 to 11:00
