9. General description of contents

The Military Archives is responsible for the documents of military provenance of the Slovak republic and its predecessors. These include documents from the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces' Administration, the Austria-Hungarian Army up to 1918, the Czechoslovak Army in 1918 - 1939, the Slovak Army in 1939 – 1945, the Czechoslovak Army in 1945 – 1992 as well as the Army (The Armed Forces) SR since 1993.



10. Categories, Linear measurement, Period covered

By the end of 2018, The Military History Archive kept holdings of approximately the following amount: more than 4030 linear meters of written records, 3350 auxiliary archive books, 11 064 personal files of soldiers, 896 military registers, 8000 pieces of military regulations and 17 683 photographs. These holdings are from the period of 1611-1993.
