A message from the President
The International Commission of Military History (ICMH), founded in 1938, is a non- profit and non-governmental International Organization affiliated with the International Committee of Historical Sciences.
According to its 2017 Statutes, “[t]he aim of the ICMH is to foster and co-ordinate studies and researches in the field of military history in the broadest sense, in a spirit of international friendship, so that scholars can become better acquainted with each other, co-operate and share the results of their work.”

Proceedings of the XLIX International Congress of Military History now available
The Proceedings of the XLIX International Congress of Military History (Lisbon, 1–6 September 2024) are now available in the Publications section of our website.

Military History Consortium 3rd Annual Conference
The Military History Consortium (MHC) will hold its 3rd Annual Conference on 3–5 June 2026 at Sciences Po Aix, Aix-en-Provence, France. The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Guillaume Piketty (Sciences Po Paris).

Results of 2025 ICMH Leadership Elections
The International Commission of Military History (ICMH) holds leadership elections, to maintain continuity while providing opportunities to improve the Commission’s effectiveness and efficiency, every five years. The 2025 ICMH leadership elections were conducted on 5 September 2025 after the General Assembly during the 50th ICMH Congress, held in Dakar, Senegal.
